Full description
Royal Air Force, 1946, RAF/CPE/UK/1890, 2115; HER 57/93 (Aerial Photograph). SDV169268.
V-shaped trenches visible on the south side of the recreation ground. Presumably infantry trenches for local perimeter defence during World War II.

Site visited on 12th February 1996. Site of former 'Seagull' trenches. Slight traces of earthworks remain near perimeter of site and along scarp of former playing field.

Although their location is known, the trenches are not visible on the ground due to the subsequent
erection of the southernmost Coast guard antenna. The field in which they were located is currently
pasture and is outside the area of the proposed development.
