Summary

The site of a blowing house is alleged at this location. During the digging of a cess pit at Inglett's Farm, Michelcombe a hollowed out granite stone, which appeared to be part of a mould-stone, was found. No other trace of a blowing house could be seen at the position. A possible cross shaft was found during the digging of a cess pit at Inglett's Farm, Michelcombe. It is octagonal in section, of granite, 0.25m in length and 0.20m in diameter.

Des=greeves, t. /list of doubtful devon tin mills c.1450-c.1750/(1981)no.41 (in smr). "blowing house" is marked by os here on strength of information supplied by R. H. Worth in 1948 recording a possible mouldstone. This is no longer visible and is of suspect status (greeves). Above ngr is approximate.

(SX 69636898) 'Blowing House (NR) (site of)' marked on historic map (1969 edition).
(03/07/1951) During the digging of a cess pit at Inglett's Farm, Michelcombe, in 1948, a hollowed out granite stone which appeared to be part of a mould-stone was found, as well as the possible remains of a cross (SX 66 NE 40)
No other trace of a blowing house could be seen at the position marked by R.H. Worth (SX 69626899).
(SX 69636898) A possible cross shaft was found during the digging of a cess pit at Inglett's Farm, Michelcombe. It is octagonal in section, of granite, 0.25m in length and 0.20m in diameter. A tin-mould stone found at the same time suggests that it was re-used in the construction of a blowing house (SS 66 NE 39).
