A small pit is visible as an earthwork circa 15m by 20m in size, to the north-east of Cotts Cottage, Combe, Ideford on aerial photographs of 1946 and images derived from lidar data. The pit is first depicted on 1930s Ordnance Survey maps where it is annotated as ‘Quarry’. The pit is located on an Ugbrooke sandstone formation and is interpreted as a 20th century sandstone quarry.
