Full description

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1950 - 1977, SX66NE14 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV146080.

One of two cairns; a turf-covered ring cairn with a very slight mound in centre measuring 17.6 meters in diameter, height 0.3 meters. 4/5/1950.
Cairn 16.8 meters in diameter, 0.4 meters high with a central platform, perimeter ring with east facing gap, slight central rise. 1/7/1977.

A9. Ring cairn on Gripper’s Hill; stone ring 14.0 metres in diameter internally, with bank 1.2 meters wide and 0.3 meters high.

This site was considered for designation as a Scheduled Ancient Monument during the Monument Protection Programme. The programme ended before the entire list of sites was successfully scheduled so this is included on a local list of Nationally Important Sites.
