Weddell, P. J., 2011, Land Adjacent to 18 High Street, Honiton, 1 (Report - Assessment). SDV348768.
An appraisal of the historical development of a site to the rear of 10,12, 14 and 18, High Street has been undertaken to establish the potential for archaeological remains to survive on the site, with particular reference to the local pottery industry.
No evidence for any industrial use of the site has been established, although it is clear that the adjoining property became a pottery in the early mid 19th century. The new access of the proposed development intrudes into the property close to the former house of the potter. Nevertheless, medieval or other remains which are known to occur in these contexts may survive.
