Summary

Remains of hut circle consisting of fragmentary walls composed of a few stones, some of which are gorse-covered. Roughly 7 metres in diamter. No sign of an entrance. Not visible on aerial photographs.

Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Hut is depicted on the first edition historic map.

As the late 19th century map, although this location matches the Ordnance Survey grid reference for the site more precisely.


Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1950, SX66NE18, 2/5/1950 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV146917.

Remains of hut circle correct as shown on the Ordnance Survey 6 inch mapping. The fragmentary walls are composed of a few stones, some of which are gorse-covered. Diameter 7.0 metres, no visible entrance.

This hut circle, internally 6.5 metres by 5.0 metres, lies on a small terrace on a moderate, well drained south facing slope at 360 metres above Ordnance Datum. The walling, 0.8 metres wide is very fragmentary and composed of small stones. Probably a type 1 hut.
Surveyed at 1:10 000 Scale.
