Full description

Gerrard, S., 1990-2002, Monument Protection Programme. Archaeological Item Dataset., MPP 140660 (Report - Survey). SDV277946.

Site visited on 9th April 1995. Hut circle at SX57066444 within an historic field system. Survives as a bank of earth and stone surrounding a circular area and is of the simple plan, single orthostat and rubble bank walling type. Interior measures 6.5 metres in diameter and the surrounding 1.5 metre wide wall stands up to 0.5 metres high. This building is connected to an enclosure and although the stratigraphical relationship is unclear it would seem most likely that the enclosure was added to the hut. The National Trust Upper Plym inventory describes this building as a structure rather than a hut, but does not explain this interpretation.

Sub-rectangular structure(b) of 5.5 metres by 3.6 metres internally and 9 metres by 6.5 metres externally incorporated in the western sector of enclosure. Composed of large boulders and grass-covered small stones. No obvious entrance.
