A mound is identifiable as a curvilinear earthwork bank approximately 112m long and up to 7.5m wide on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards on the south-east facing slopes immediately to the north-east of Trowlesworthy Warren House.
The visible earthwork does not correspond with any boundary depicted on the Tithe Map for Shaugh Prior but does correspond with a boundary depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1880s First Edition 25inch map. Most likely associated with medieval settlement at Warren House, the bank probably originated as part of a small field system of probable medieval character that was out of use in the early 19th century.
The visible mound is possibly the remains of a rabbit bury or pillow mound of medieval to post-medieval date, part of Trowlesworthy Warren (MDV14148), created by enlarging the extant field boundary.
The mound remains clearly identifiable on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2016.
