(18/07/1989) SX 64537991. Set into a stonefaced wall are a pair of slotted gateposts. The N post is 1.3m high, 0.35 wide at the base tapering to 0.25m at the top and 0.3m to 0.2m thick. Set in its S face are three slots 0.04m deep, in the form of inverted L's and one straight slot at the top beneath a small drilled hole. Worth (1953) refers to these as 'type B' and dates slotted gateposts to pre-1800 and probably much earlier). Its opposing post 1.3m high, 0.4m wide at maximum, has five rectangular slots on its N face (of Type A2).
SX 64547912. A few metres to the NE also in a field wall is a similar 'type B' post. It is 1.4m high, 0.4m to 0.35m wide and 0.30 to 0.15m thick with four slots in the E face. Two iron gate hangers are set in its N face.
