A capped shaft within a large conical pit, surrounded by a spoil collar. This was likely to have been a hauling shaft, and although not well defined, the position of a whim would have been on the south side. Another shaft is depicted on the historic mapping.

'Old Shaft' marked on the early 20th century (1907) historic map, north of Virtuous Lady Copper Mine; not marked on later historic maps (1954).

(28/09/2007) Shafts adits and other surface evidence of copper extraction at Virtuous Lady Mine. SX 4731 6990. A capped shaft within a large conical pit, surrounded by a spoil collar. This was likely to have been a hauling shaft, and although not well defined, the position of a whim would have been on the south side.
