Summary

A dispersed group of four hut circles on the tip of Huntingdon Warren. The huts are all relatively small with diameters in the range 3.6 to 4.8 metres and are terraced into the slope. Only one hut possesses a discernible entrance, in the south western side.

Full description

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1977, SX66NE56 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV272713.

(09/07/1977) SX 66386627 A free standing hut circle, internal diameter 4.5m, walls 1.3 wide and in poor condition; its type is uncertain. It has a south east facing entrance and is cut back into a moderate, well drained, south east facing slope at 375m above OD. Discovered during field investigation.
Surveyed at 1:10 000 scale.

(31/01/1996) A dispersed group of four hut circles lie on the south-east tip of Huntingdon Warren some 100 metres north-west of Huntingdon Cross. The huts are all relatively small with diameters in the range 3.6 metres to 4.8 metres and are terraced into the slope. Only one hut possesses a discernible entrance, in the south-west side.
Hut circle at SX 6640566253 of 4.8 metres diameter with walls 0.9 metres wide and 0.5 high with entrance to the south-east.
Hut circle at SX 6638066257 of 3.6 metres diameter with walls 0.9 metres wide and 0.4 high.
Hut circle at SX 6639066273 of 4.5 metres diameter with walls 1.0 metres wide and 0.5 high.
Hut circle at SX 6636466297 of 3.6 metres diameter with walls 0.9 metres wide and 0.4 high.
