Possibly Bronze Age or Iron Age rectangular enclosure or pound, measuring 115 by 60.0 meters. The enclosure walls measure 3.5 - 4.5 meters wide, and up to 0.8 meters high. There is a revetted entrance near the south angle and no trace of occupation or cultivation was noted at this time.

Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England, 1985, Aerial Photograph Project (Interpretation). SDV319854.

Enclosure of rectangular form with rounded corners, partly cut by openwork.

Butler, J., 1993, Dartmoor Atlas of Antiquities: Volume Four - The South-East, 157 (Monograph). SDV337765.

Large, unusually regular rectangular enclosure measuring approximately 120 by 65.0 meters on the south bank, just upstream from Buckland Ford. Located on a very steep site, the enclosure walls (originally 2.5 meters wide) have suffered badly from erosion and have become spread and scattered about the hillside. Evidence exists of around seven hut circles within the enclosure, although few stones remain around them; circular hut platforms are all that remain. Other details: Map 57, 24.

Gerrard, S., 2004, List of Sites Remaining to be Considered for Designation on Dartmoor (Un-published). SDV345444.

This site was considered for designation as a Scheduled Ancient Monument during the Monument Protection Programme. The programme ended before the entire list of sites was successfully scheduled so this is included on a local list of Nationally Important Sites.
