Full description

Drewe, B., 1971, Economic growth in Devon 1066-1332 (Un-published). SDV348434.

Drewe suggests that high taxes paid by Aller in 1332 may be linked with economic prosperity from iron-mining, as agricultural land was not as good as other nearby areas which paid lower taxes. No direct evidence, however.

Exeter Museums Archaeological Field Unit, 1994, Blackdown Hills ironworking survey (Report - Survey). SDV126734.

In an inventory of all glebe land of 1601, "one yard and more of Allers on a close called Pitparke iiii acres".
