Summary

A hut circle of probable Bronze Age to Iron Age date is recorded from field investigation and aerial survey as an earthwork on the south-west facing slopes of Lee Moor. The hut circle is one of 8 associated with a prehistoric enclosure north of Cholwichtown Clay Works.
The hut circle is visible under vegetation on aerial photographs of 1946 and remains visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2002 and identifiable on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013.

Curvilinear banks are visible as earthworks.

Hut circle V. Diameter 8.0 metres. Associated with the Enclosure B; attached to the walling. The walling is in poor condition, being very fragmentary. The entrance is not obvious.

Hut D. Conjoined plan and rubble bank walling type. Interior measures 4.0 metres in diameter and is defined by a 1.0 metres wide wall standing up to 0.3 metres high. Attached to the inner face of the enclosure boundary wall and the south-west edge of Hut C.

Butler's hut 4; 5.1 metres in diameter. Adjoins the western boundary of the enclosure and is joined to the central hut by a wall.

A curvilinear bank up to circa 2 to 3m wide is visible under vegetation on aerial photographs of 1946, as a stony earthwork on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2002 and is identifiable as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013.
The bank defines an irregularly shaped enclosure up to 6.5m across, either abutting or defining part of the external north-westerm boundary of the enclosure MDV2425.
The visible earthwork is interpreted as a hut circle of probable Bronze Age to Iron Age date. It is one of 8 associated with the adjacent larger enclosure and is conjoined to south-west and north-east by smaller possible hut circles.
The hut circle has been transcribed as part of enclosure MDV2425.
