Full description
Turton, S. D., Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV1379.
A number of memorial stones said to survive in 1878 but only 1(dated 1815) in evidence c.1880. Fate of memorial stones not known but possible some buried or built into walls. Boundary walls apparently undermined and site flooded in 19c. Uncertain if graves disturbed or eroded but seems likely features may survive below ground (turton).

Britton states that the burial ground was marked out at 2 acres 5 perches, and a wall built around its perimeter. Burial ground excluded from sale in 1822. Shown as pasture on 1840 tm. By late 19c all but one of the graves had been washed away, and it is recorded that the relevant records no longer survived (see tapley-soper + dymond) (bishop).

Burial ground adjoining the Napoleonic Naval Hospital, now the Goodrington Hotel. There is a headstone over one of the graves to 'Major Thomas Hill of Helston Cornwall late of the 47 Regiment, who departed this life the 28th day of July, 1815. Aged 49 years.' However, there are no records of the names of the other men who are buried there.
