HER Number:MDV53673
Name:BOUNDARY in the Parish of Romansleigh

Summary

Vis=23/2/1994 (emafu) earthworks occupy terrace to n of farm. A sunken track extends n from hedge (which overlays it) for 70m and then curving nw, continues downhill as a shallower narrower track. At first it is 6-7m wide x 0.4m deep. To w of this is a substantial boundary bank which curves w away from track after 60m. A boundary with lower banks comes off the track on the e side 40m n of hedge. This boundary appeared to be linear from a distance, but was apparently curvilinear when measured on ground.

Complex could simply be old hedge banks and track between them from farm. No fields are shown here on 1st ed. Os 6" map, so they would therefore be earlier. Kitcott is a medieval settlement mentioned in the 13c and 14c (dyer).
