The access route continues to the north of Crabhayne Farm and Boshill, and terminates at Tanyard Cross. This junction is significant because it is the meeting point of two ancient routeways, now the A3052 from Dorchester, and the A358 from Amninstcr to Axmouth. No documentary evidence regarding the location of the tanyard indicated in the placename Tanyard Cross has yet been discovered. Evidence for an early tannery may well come to light during construction work.

Boshill Cross was formerly Tanyard Cross. Tanneries are specifically mentioned in Axmouth in 1207 and early 19th century.
