A rectilinear ditched enclosure of probable later prehistoric to Roman date was visible on aerial photographs as a cropmark to the south of Worth Lane, east of Ellerhayes. The enclosure comprised two conjoined roughly square cells roughly 25 to 30 metres square, with further linear cropmarks possibly supporting the interpretation of additional enclosure ditches. Curvilinear or circular cropmarks up to circa 18 metres in diameter within the westernmost square enclosure might be evidence of an enclosed roundhouse or potentially indicate more than a single phase of settlement is represented.
