HER Number:MDV54360
Name:Tinners hut in streamworks along Nuns Cross Brook

Summary

A Medieval or later two-roomed tinner's hut situated within an area of tin-streaming debris on the flood plain of Nuns Cross Brook. An archaeological field survey in 1989 recorded the hut, apparently cut into a heap of tin-streaming debris with the wall forming a revetment 0.9m high. The other walls survived as a single course of large upright slabs and boulders 1 metre wide and 0.6 metre high. An entrance in the north wall leads to a small porch which is divided from the main room by a short stub wall. A narrow opening in this wall leads to the main room. The floor of the building is obscured by debris and no internal features were visible.
