Full description

Haythornthwaite, R. L., 1988, Brimpts Farm, Dartmeet, Princetown (Duchy Farms Survey), I. S. Sainsbury (Report - Survey). SDV223270.

(03/11/1988) Three cairns, visible as flat topped turf-covered stony mounds situated about 325m OD on the crest of E facing slopes of rough grass land. They overlook the East Dart River, some 250m to the E, though the view is now obscured by Little Newtake Plantation.
(c) SX 6642 7470. Overlooking a tributary stream to the SSE, it is
5.6m in diameter and 0.4m high on the uphill side. It appears to be placed on the edge of a scarp 1.5m wide 0.5m high making it about 1m high on the lower E side. This scarp runs off to the S for about 16m and may be natural but seems more like a lynchet, though no trace of a field system is evident. A few stones protrude around the periphery of the cairn suggesting a crude kerb. Again the centre shows evidence of robbing. Two large stones 20m to the SW are probably fortuitous outcropping rock.

Gerrard, S., 1990-2002, Monument Protection Programme. Archaeological Item Dataset., MPP 157105 (Report - Survey). SDV277946.

(10/05/2002) Southern of three round cairns 1000m north of Brimpts Farm. Diameter 5.6m. Height 0.6m. This cairn is covered in dense gorse making it very difficult to see the detail described by the RCHME.

Ancient Monuments, 2003, Schedule notification (Schedule Document). SDV266115.

(08/09/2003) SX 66427482; SX 66427471. Three cairns visible as flat topped turf-covered stony mounds situated on the crest of east facing slopes of rough grassland. The northern cairn measures 6.4 metres in diameter and stands up to 0.7 metres high. A few stones, possibly part of a kerb, protrude from the eastern side of the mound. A slight central depression suggests it may have been robbed at some time in the past.. The central cairn is 7 metres in diameter and 0.7 mtres high and the third, at SX 66427470, measures 5.6 metres in diameter and stands up to 0.6 metres high. It may also have a kerb. Scheduled.
