HER Number:MDV54465
Name:Stone near the Moorlands Farm pot-water leat

Summary

An isolated granite slab stands near the Moorlands Farm pot-water leat (SX 67 SW 253) on undulating, fairly stone-free, moorland pasture with limited peat digging in the vicinity. It is unmarked and measures 0.9m high, at the base 0.4m by 0.25m tapering to 0.25m by 0.12m at the top. Its position beside an infilled narrow pipe trench may offer a clue to its origin, perhaps it was unearthed and set up when the water pipe was laid. Not noted by Worth (1946) in his description of an alleged prehistoric stone row c.70m to the S it is probably of no archaeological significance.
