Name:Leat at Hugh Lake

Summary

A leat now dry and silted runs NE for 140m from the Hugh Lake stream at the foot of Hew down. Initially 1.0m wide and 0.3m deep its lower course has been eroded and now measures up to 2.1m wide and 0.7m deep (at SX 6361 8605). It probably fed tin workings located in a marshy area on the left bank of Hugh Lake.

(08/03/1990) SX 6353 8391 to SX 6361 8605.
A leat now dry and silted runs NE for 140m from the Hugh Lake stream at the foot of Hew down. Initially 1.0m wide and 0.3m deep its lower course has been eroded and now measures up to 2.1m wide and 0.7m deep (at SX 6361 8605). It probably fed tin workings located in a marshy area on the left bank of Hugh Lake (SX 68 NW 51).
