Full description

Royal Commission for the Historical Monuments of England, 1987-1993, Duchy Farms Project Survey Visit, S. A. J. Probert (Report - Survey). SDV350839.

(16/10/1990) Centred SX 6690 8624. A cornditch originally marking the W edge of the enclosed land adjoining Chagford Common. It is only visible for a short length, centred at the given NGR, where an overlying drystone wall deviates slightly from the earlier line. For most of its length the feature is apparent as a stoney bank up to 2.0m wide and 0.9m high behind the more recent field wall.
Where it is undisturbed by the wall the ditch measures around 1.6m wide and 0.6m deep with the bank 1.4m wide and 0.6m high. This length of bank also contains massive upright slabs on the side abutting the ditch.
(See illustration card of SX 68 NE 94 No 12 for location).
