Summary
A turf covered stoney cairn south-west of a small settlement on Shovel Down. 1991 Survey recorded measurements of 4.9 metres diameter, height 0.65 metres. A stone filled hollow 1.9 metres by 0.2 metres deep lies slightly east of centre. No traces of a cist or a retaining circle.

Full description

Cairn at SX65758586. Diameter 6.2 metres, height 0.6 metres. Central pit 1.8 metres by 1.5 metres by 0.3 metres deep. A ring of stones around outer edge of pit may be structural.

Forty metres outside the south-west corner of the hut circle settlement and prehistoric fields on Shovel Down is a small, solitary cairn (5.0 by 0.3 metres), that has been dug into, the displaced stones subsequently returned to the central pit where they lie in a loose pile. Butler also mentions another cairn 250 metres north of the enclosures.

A turf covered stoney cairn at SX65768588 situated near the crest of the north facing flank of Shovel Down 20 metres south of a small settlement. It measures 4.9 metres in diameter and survives to a height of 0.65 metres. A stone filled hollow 1.9 metres in diameter and about 0.2 metres deep lies slightly east of centre. There are no traces of a cist or a retaining circle (citing Probert, S. A. J., 16/8/1991, Royal Commission on the Historic Monuments in England Field Investigation).
