(16/08/1991) Centred SX 65378533. Approximately 0.5ha of eluvial tinworking remains extend from the northeast corner of Fernworthy Forest. The remains consist of an area of low amorphous mounds with a shallow channel leading away to the north. There is no evidence in the form of abandoned water channels to suggest that these workings were ever stream washed.
Streamworks are recorded in the forested area to the southwest (RCHME APP 1985). These eluvial remains probably represent an extension of those workings onto the dry ground above the spring line.
The area within the forest was not investigated.
See RCHME survey 'Shovel Down' at 1:2500.
