Summary

A turf covered stoney bank forming a semi-circle on a slight shelf above the right bank of the North Teign River. Apparently of dump construction it measures 2.0m wide and up to 0.4m high and encloses an area with a diameter of 28.0m. Both ends disappear under a peat ledge at the end of the ridge running NW from Shovel Down. There is no gap indicative of a possible entrance.

Centred SX 65188658. A turf covered stoney bank forming a semi-circle on a slight shelf above the right bank of the North Teign River. Apparently of dump construction it measures 2.0m wide and up to 0.4m high and encloses an area with a diameter of 28.0m. Both ends disappear under a peat ledge at the end of the ridge running NW from Shovel Down. There is no gap indicative of a possible entrance.
It may either represent the remains of a small prehistoric enclosure or alternatively is the result of streamworking activity.
