Full description

Royal Commission for the Historical Monuments of England, 1987-1993, Duchy Farms Project Survey Visit, S. Probert (Report - Survey). SDV350839.

(04/11/1992) SX 65838085 to SX 65928094. A bank and ditch running roughly east-west in unenclosed moorland starts near the western boundary of Little Stannon Newtake. The bank, following a sinuous course downhill, measures on average 2.7m wide and 0.9m high. The ditch, 1.8m wide and 0.6m deep lies on the southern side of the bank. Short stretches of a further slight bank lie to the south of the ditch. This probably represents debris from a later recutting. This feature serves no obvious function apart from possibly draining the area immediately outside the newtake.
