Summary

Earthwork remains of post medieval tinworks situated on the southern flank of Assycombe Hill, one kilometre northwest of Warren House Inn. An archaeological field survey in 1992 recorded a dispersed group of approximately eight pits, up to 3 metres in diameter and 0.6 metres in depth.

Full description

Royal Commission for the Historical Monuments of England, 1987-1993, Duchy Farms Project Survey Visit, S. Probert (Report - Survey). SDV350839.

(06/11/1992) Centred SX 66618141. A dispersed group of approximately eight tin pits on the southern flank of Assycombe Hill 1km north-west of the Warren House Inn. Their diameters are all about 3.0m with a maximum depth of 0.6m. Three of the pits at SX 66628140, SX 66628143 and SX 66598138 have been erroneously interpreted as hut circles (Butler 1991, 36).
