Summary

Approximately 4.3 hectares of streamworking remains on the banks of both tributaries of Statts Brook immediately north and west of Statts Bridge. The workings are flanked by bog which probably obscure their full extent but significant areas of amorphous spoil heaps and water channels remain visible.

Royal Commission for the Historical Monuments of England, 1987-1993, Duchy Farms Project Survey Visit, S. Probert (Report - Survey). SDV350839.

(06/11/1992) Centred SX 66708070. Approximately 4.3ha of streamworking remains on the banks of both tributaries of Statts Brook immediately north and west of Statts Bridge. The workings are flanked by bog which probably obscure their full extent but significant areas of amorphous spoil heaps and water channels remain visible. Surface Water was Probably directed into these workings via a series of north to south channels (see SX 68 SE 208), cut into the hillside between the two arms of the brook.
These workings were probably contiguous with those further down Statts Brook (SX 68 SE 217) though the intermediate section is obscured by bog.
