Summary

Earthwork remains of a medieval or later tinner's prospecting pit. An archaeological field survey in 1989 recorded it as having a diameter of 7 metres and a depth of 1.7 metres. A spoil heap 2.3 metres wide and 0.9 metres was around its southeast side.

(25/09/1989) SX 63?08 8052. Set in a steep bracken covered slope about 400m OD to the immediate SE of the settlement (SX 68 SW 54) is a pit, 7m in diameter and 1.7m deep, with a debris bank 2.3m wide and 0.9m high around its SE side. It is probably an exploratory pit connected with tinning.
