Summary
A tinner's hut built into a mound of upcast rubble in an area of intensive streamworks (SX 68 SW 101) on the right bank of Varracombe Brook near its confluence with the North Teign River. Orientated NW-SE, the slightly trapezoidal shaped structure measures 4.7m long by a maximum of 2.5m wide. Coursed drystone revetments, up to 0.7m high, form the SW, NW and NE walls while a bank, 1.7m wide and 1.2m high, forms the SE side. An entrance, 1.3m wide, lies centrally in the SW wall and the hut is crudely subdivided by a line of boulders. It is not clear whether the latter is an original feature.
