Full description

Pye, A. + Westcott, K., 1993, Great Potheridge Farm, Merton. An Archaeological Presentation Survey, 21 (Report - non-specific). SDV11287.

Cattle shed no 2. Built between 1866 and 1886. Consists of a masonry building with a pitched slate roof; all the openings have red brick voussoirs except a wide gateway cut through its S wall. It has a small doorway through its W wall, which also provided access into the feeding passage along the rear of cattle shed no 3 (subsheet 4, built shortly after), a window in the S wall, and an E-W drain in the floor near the S wall. It was probably built as a stable and then converted into a cattle shed (its current use). Other details: Figs 10,17; pls 20,22.
