A watching brief on a pipeline construction recorded the remains of two clearance cairns. The easternmost was excavated and found to comprise a sub-rectangular low pile of stones circa 2 metres square, located 9 metres from the hedgebank. It was made up of medium to large stones, with large non-flint stones around its edges and smaller flints in the centre. It contained seven sherds of medieval pottery (jugs), giving a provisional date of between 1250 and 1500. No archaeological deposits were located beneath it. The other cairn, 15 metres to the west, was similar and not recorded
