The feature identified on (a) is a 3.5 metre circular pool (citing NJA, 21/08/1978, Ordnance Survey)
The circular pool described by Ordnace Survey is a flooded shell crater, one of many on the northern and western flanks of Black Dunghill and Holming Beam (citing Probert, S. A. J., 11/07/1994 Royal Commission on the Historic Monuments in England Field Investigation).
