Full description

Wood, D., 1992, Attack Warning Red, 284 (Monograph). SDV143823.

Wood records that the Observer Corps post at Bigbury was relocated to SX653447 in 1952. This is probably the site recorded by McCroom. The site had been at SX664448 during the war and was relocated again in 1962 to SX602488.

?1939-45 lookout at Mount Folly Farm, Bigbury. NGR given as SX661445, but this is for the farm. Photo annotation refer to the post being sited at the highest point of the farm.


Horner, W., 1995, Untitled Source (Personal Comment). SDV338665.

This is an "Orlit" type B Royal Observer Corps post of c.1951. Such posts were constructed of pre-cast concrete panels forming a rectangular structure 3.05 by 2.03m divided into an open observation area and a roofed shelter and store. Type B posts such as this were raised on 1.37m high concrete legs, with access via a wide metal ladder.
