Summary

The remains of a hut circle identifiable as a reed-filled scooped platform up to 5.6m in overall diameter which is cut to a depth of 0.4m into the slope. The downhill side is partially defined by a number of earthfast boulders and slabs; other stones on the perimeter can be detected in the turf.

Site visited on 12th March 1993. This hut circle forms part of a cluster of Neolithic and Bronze Age settlement and ritual features including 5 enclosures, a large number of associated stone hut circles, 3 stone alignments and at least 22 cairns it is located immediately west of an enclosure. Terraced into the hillslope and of the simple plan and earthwork walling type. Interior measures 4 metres in diameter and survives as a circular scoop defined on the south side by four large stones protruding through the turf.

(10/08/1999) The remains of a hut circle lie on a gentle moorland hillslope at SX 5944 6715. The identifiable features are a reed-filled scooped platform up to 5.6m in overall diameter which is cut to a depth of 0.4m into the slope. The downhill side is partially defined by a number of earthfast boulders and slabs; other stones on the perimeter can be detected in the turf.
