Full description

Gerrard, S., 1990-2002, Monument Protection Programme. Archaeological Item Dataset., MPP 140375 (Report - Survey). SDV277946.

(01/05/1995) Two pillow mounds forming part of Willings Walls Warren, at SX 5803 6592 and SX 5804 6591. The northern pillow mound survives as a 13.4m by 5m by 1.2m high, flat topped, oblong mound of soil and stone, whilst the southern one is 12.3m long, 5m wide and 1.2m high. They lie on top of earlier alluvial tin streamworking earthworks.
No ditches are visible around these mounds, and whilst they may survive as buried features, it does seem much more likely that spoil from nearby dumps was utilised to form these particular mounds.
