Name:Pillow mound 620 metres east-south-east of Legis Tor

Summary

Pillow mound forming part of Willings Walls Warren. Survives as a 20m by 7m by 1m high, flat topped, rectangular mound of soil and stone surrounded by the 2m wide and 0.3m deep ditch from which construction material was quarried. An 18m long, 0.8m wide and 0.4m deep narrow gully leads south-west from the lower end of the ditch towards the nearby tin streamwork. This may be interpreted as a vermin trap.

(03/04/1995) Pillow mound forming part of Willings Walls Warren. Survives as a 20m by 7m by 1m high, flat topped, rectangular mound of soil and stone surrounded by the 2m wide and 0.3m deep ditch from which construction material was quarried. (18/11/2019) Condition assessed as moderate; vegetation encroachment is threatening feature. Hard to locate feature due to tall dying bracken cover at time of survey. Orientation of pillow mound as shown on map did not appear to match orientation on ground. Area has many large long lumps and mounds from tin works.
