Summary

Hut circle '1' (Butler) north of Shavercombe Tor of 7 metres diameter with walls 1.6 metres wide wall by 0.5 metres high. The structure is bisected by a later Medieval boundary bank which within the hut measures 1.5 metres wide and 0.3 metres high. This boundary bank forms part of the Medieval and post Medieval field system within Hentor Warren.

Full description

Gerrard, S., 1990-2002, Monument Protection Programme. Archaeological Item Dataset., MPP 140472, 03/05/1995 (Report - Survey). SDV277946.

(SX 5929 6617) Hut circle survives as a bank of earth and stone surrounding a circular internal area and forms part of a partially enclosed stone hut circle settlement. Simple plan, single orthostat and earthwork walling type. Interior is 7m in diameter and the surrounding 1.6m wide wall stands up to 0.5m high.
The structure is bisected by a later Medieval boundary bank which within the hut measures 1.5m wide and 0.3m high. This boundary bank forms part of the Medieval and post Medieval field system within Hentor Warren.

Large Hut Circle '1' of 8.0 metres diameter at the centre of the settlement at 'Shavercombe Tor enclosures and cairns' is bisected by a later bank continuing on to the west and east.
