United States Airforce, 1944, US/31GR/LOC31, US/31GR/LOC31 V 002-003 22-APR-1944 (Aerial Photograph). SDV352217.

The slipway is not visible, although is likely obscured by vegetation.

The slipway is partly visible as a structure.

Site visited on 9th April 1996. Concrete slipway at Sandridge Park. Built by United States forces assembling in the River Dart prior to D-day. Sandridge House (previously an Italian prisoner of war camp) was used for accommodation with huts and tents in the grounds, and a road was built down to the river and the slipway constructed.

A slipway of Second World War date is visible as a structure on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the west of Sandridge. The slipway is visible to a length of approximately 13m, although is partly obscured by vegetation and appears to be associated with a trackway which provides access to and from the Second World War American military barracks at Sandridge. The slipway appears visible as a structure on aerial photographs of 1951, although is obscured by vegetation on aerial photographs after this date.
