Linear cropmarks of two parallel, levelled ditches are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1994, to the southwest of Barkingdon Manor, Staverton. The parallel ditches are northeast to southwest aligned and are interpreted as the remains of a possible field boundary. The ditches do not correspond with any features shown in this location on the 1845 Parish Tithe Map, or on subsequent available historic maps, nor do they respect the layout of the field patterns in this location characterised as post-medieval enclosures. This supports the interpretation that the field boundary could be of medieval or post-medieval date that had passed out of use by the mid-19th century. Alternatively, the cropmark ditches may define the course of a former medieval or post-medieval trackway.
