Full description
Ordnance Survey, 1880s, Ordnance Survey (Cartographic). SDV848.
Site of 'Limekilln' shown on OS 25" (1880s) map as two small adjoining buildings with a track from the north & south in the centre of a large quarry (see PRN 35749).

Site of 'Old Limekiln' shown on OS 25" (1905) map as a small circular feature with a small rectangular feature adjoining to the north. The track present on the OS 25" (1880s) map is not shown.

The Estate map of 1814 indicates that lime working in the area began at this site. The lime burning from the local quarries seems to have occurred at this kiln. The remains of the limekiln were visible in 2005.
