Site of Counthouse Shaft which was probably cut in 1864 & a building shown on the 19C maps at Wheal Emma mine. The survey in 2002 found the shaft 3m diameter at the eastern end of a linear depression with a granite marker post. A 1m high bank went partially around the shaft. A long spoil heap shown on 19C maps was found to the south of the shaft with a flat area which may have been the site of the capstan. A small rectangular rubble filled building 4m x 3m was located at SX43417346. Other details: Sites 263 & 264.
