Full description

Blanchdown Adit recorded by Richardson on east side of Flatrod Line between Waterwheels and Counthouse Shaft. Other details: Fig 17.

Blanchdown adit close to Wheal Thomas/Watson drained the working levels of Wheal Josiah to the northwest (see PRN 3874) which had the deepest & most productive lodes of all the Devon Great Consols mines. The survey in 2002 found a timber framed portal 0.6m wide x 0.75m high with ochreous water issuing from a metal pipe. The ochre beds to the south continue to act as a filter to remove toxins (see PRN 42206). Other details: Site 317.
