Slit trenches visible to the west of Headless Cross.

Concentration of zig-zag shaped slit trenches visible, although they are to be found across the common.

There are a considerable number of World War II slit trenches dug by American Army units training in the area. Considered to be a hazard to both livestock and humans. The graziers would like to infill these. There has been some swaling on the down, as part of the vegetation management and if more is done these features will become accessible and visible.
