Summary
Trial pits associated with Brimpts North Mine. A group of 10 trial pits mostly along presumed line of the west-east lode, but with two pits offset, one either side of this line. Each is oval, the long axis being across the line of the lode. Typical dimensions 3.9 metres by 2.8 metres and 0.5 to 1.0 metre deep.

Full description
BIRD + HIRST, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV221965.
Brimpts north mine, trial pits, w group. Sx65057515 to sx65197513. A group of 10 trial pits mostly along presumed line of the w-e lode, but with 2 pits offset, one either side of this line. Each is oval, the long axis being across the line of the lode. Typical dimensions 3.9m by 2.8m and 0.5m to 1m deep. Spacing is irregular, varying from 7m to almost 30m with an average of 14.4m between pits. They are spread over a distance of 135m w of the drystone wall. No documented history, but probably contemporaneous with the lode-back workings to e and possibly of 17c origin (bird + hirst).
