Brimpts south mine - gully. Excavation and entrance to adit known as 'deep adit'. A deep excavation at the head of which was an adit entrance, now blocked. This level extended via adit shaft, under the gully, via engine shaft and for a further 40m w, under brimpts' farmyard. It is detailed on the 1854 mine plan (see dro). Dating to the 1798-1807 operation, it was cleared in 1849 and extended spasmodically until the 1855 closure with the eventual objective of providing a deep adit to drain the plantation workings (subsheets 8 + 9) (bird + hirst).
