Site of a compass platform that was used to carry out an aircraft compass swing. Any errors were recorded on a compass corrector card. This was carried by the navigator and used to make ajustments in order to maintain the aircraft on the corrector course.

Compass platform. Construction: concrete. Function: for carrying out an aircraft "compass swing" so that compass errors could be recorded on a compass corrector card. This card was carried in the aircraft and used by the navigator to make adjustments to maintain the correct course of the aircraft. It appears to be in good condition and can easily be seen from the air.
