Building 169. Station offices. Construction: rendered 4.5 inch brick with piers at ten feet centres supporting 28 feet span steel trusses carrying corrugated asbestos sheeting. Function: the administration of the airfield complex was conducted from here. Building divided into a number of offices for adjutant, accounts clerks, orderly room, chief accounts officer, defence officer and commanding officer. Building now practically demolished with just one wall remaining.

Department of Environment, 2003, Dunkeswell Airfield, Building 166: Statement of Proposed Development by the Ministry of Defence (Un-published). SDV352140.

Dunkeswell Airfield is a former World War II airfield, most of which was sold into private ownership some years ago. The land retained by the Ministry of Defence was more latterly used as a training area, of which the operations block, station offices and the adjacent buildings were part. The buildings are no longer required for training purposes but there is need to make them safe before Ordnance Clearance can be completed. The buildings also pose a general health and safety hazard which needs to be addressed.
The proposed works to the station offices comprise taking down the remaining parts of the wall leaving the concrete base in situ.

GetMapping, 2010, GetMapping 2010 aerial photographs (Aerial Photograph). SDV351585.

Only the concrete base remains.
