Summary
Site 7. Airmen's barrack hut. Construction: universal asbestos handcraft hut consisting of troughed-shaped asbestos sheeting bolted together to form a seven-sided building, brick end walls and internal brick porch. Building 19 feet wide and 35ft 9ins long. Function: barrack hut for 12 airmen, building arranged open plan with 12 beds and heated by a single, slow combustion stove. Now used for farm storage and in excellent condition. Just next to this at st14380734 is a further airmans' barracks hut, but this is not in original position - removed from somewhere on this site and re-erected on the concrete base of an american prefabricated hut. This is now used for storage and is in good repair (francis).
